After a bus ride Wednesday that got us into Baton Rouge around 11:30 p.m., the Owls woke up this morning ready to get to work as they held their first practice at LSU’s Alex Box Stadium.
The Owls left the team hotel at 10:45 this morning for the 15-minute drive to the stadium. When we got there, LSU was just wrapping up their practice.
We took the field at 11:30 for our scheduled 75-minute practice. We were able to get some hitting and fielding in, and the pitchers got some work in as well; however, 30 minutes into practice there was a lightning strike, and we were forced to leave the field so the tarp could be put on. Ten minutes later, the skies got dark and the rain came, forcing the team into indoor batting cages.
We were able to get the rest of our work done indoors. Of course, as soon as our time was up, the rain stopped and the sun came back out.
Unfortunately, with the way the weather forecast sits right now, it could be just the beginning for a wet weekend. Rain, rain, go away!
